Your Reflections
Write your reflections on your experience
I encounter difficulties  in finding relevant source of information and it consume much of my time because I've did not prepare it earlier before . Regarding  with the topic  it cannot be open  sometimes and I have to find another website.

How did you find the task of surfing the net relevant in generating more information for your support materials to the topic?

I generate all the website that I've visit  and choose the most reliable source of information.

INSIGHTS
Imagine how schools located in communities without internet facilities cope with this need.

If the school don't  have internet facilities they  are very behind for the learning since almost of the information that they need can be found in the net  and there discussion  become limited since their resource are also limited.

  • Hand outs
  • Charts
 Dividing and Multiplying Decimal numbers
  • multiplication table
  • books
  • hand outs
  • charts

YOUR ANALYSIS

Why is there a need to make a survey of available materials before making your own materials?

1. To collect information from a part of a group or community, without trying to choose them for overall representation of the larger population. I  need to conduct several of these before  I get  a sense of how the I I can make my own materials.

2..This will give me the most accurate information and these will be my basis on making my own materials.
3. If the materials that I observe are effective I can apply it  in making my own materials if it is not effective I will create my own strategy in improving or I will change the instructional materials that I've seen in  making my own materials.

YOUR REFLECTIONS

What materials did you like most?why?

Hand outs and Books because  in using this materials the teacher can easily discuss her lessons. The students will not only imagine the words that  the teacher discuss to them  with the help of this materials they can gasp the information with reading the content of the book and handouts together with listening the teacher discussion and also the students can fully understand the  the topic if they will asked questions and clarifications.

What difficulties did you encounter in making the materials?

Finding specific  topic  for the content of the  materials, it takes time to encode the details of the topic, I need also to put  brief  details so that  content of the topic will not consume  too much pages.

How did you overcome it?

I make it sure that the materials that I made is already prepared a week before  I will be using it.

Make suggestions to the teachers in the preparation of teaching materials.

In preparing  the material like handouts it should be prepare earlier before  it will be use in the discussion to avoid problems and the content of the hand out should be brief  so that it can't consume to much money.

                                              DECIMALS

Decimal  means based on 10 ( from latin decima means a tenth part) but a decimal number usully means there is a decimal point.

         14.295

1 is the tens
4 is units
. decimal point
2 is the 1/10( tenths)
9 is the 1/100 (Hundredths)
5 is the 1/1000( Thousandths)

Note: The digit to the left of the decimal point is a whole number ,4 for example.

As we move further  to the left, every digit place get 10 times  bigger..

As we move further right, every digit   place gets 10 times smaller.

All rational numbers can be written as either terminating or repeating.

           TERMINATING DECIMAL AS  A FRACTION

a. 0.8 =8/10              Read as 8- tenths
b.0.25=25/100           Read as 25 -hundreths

                  REPEATING DECIMAL AS FRACTION

 a.Write 0.333... as a fraction
Solution
x = 3.333...                          let x represent the number.
10x   =   3.333..                  Multiply  by 10 because 1 digits repeats.
   -x   =  0.333..
_____________                 Subtract to eliminate repeating decimal.
9X    = 3

    X=1/3

           ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION OF DECIMALS

ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION OF DECIMALS

To add or subtract  decimals:

i.If it is necessary, write the numerals in co column so that the decimal points are directly under each other.Zeros may be annexed to the numerals naming decimal fractions so that the addends may have the same number of decimal.

Ex. For addition                                                                                                     Ex. For subtraction

i.) 0.39 + 4.6                                                                                i. ) 8.4 - 2.76

     0.39                                                                                            8.40
+  4.6                                                                                            -  2.76
________                                                                               ___________

ii.) Add or subtract as in the addition of whole numbers.

ii.)                                                                                              ii.)
      0.39                                                                                           8.40
   + 4.6                                                                                       -     2.76
________                                                                          ___________
      4 99                                                                                           5 64

iii.) Place the decimal point in the sum or difference directly under the decimal points in the addends or subtrahend and minuend.

iii.)                                                                                              iii.)

    0.39                                                                                                 8.40
+  4.6                                                                                                -  2.76
______                                                                                          _________
   4.99                                                                                                  5.64

          MULTIPLICATION  AND DIVISION OF DECIMALS

MULTIPLICATION OF DECIMALS

To multiply decimals:

1.Write the given numerals in column and multiply as in the multiplication of whole numbers. The decimal places point in the multiplier does not necessarily have to be unde the decimal point in he multiplicand.

2.Find the total number of decimal places  in the factors and point off  in the product, counting from, right to left, as many decimal places as there are in the factors.

  0.8  --------- 2 decimal places
   x 2.4  -----------1 decimal place
_______
        332
      166
   _____
      1.992 --------- 3 decimal place

3.  When the product contains fewer figures/digits than the required number of deimal places, prefix as many zeros as are necessary.

   0.25   --------------2 decimals places
x 0.03   --------------2 decimal places
0.0075 ---------------4 decimal places

 DIVISION OF DECIMALS

To divide decimals:

1.If the  divisor is a whole number,

a.divide as an division of whole numbers.
  b. place the decimal point in the quotient directly above the decimal point in the dividend.

Ex

          2.9
  5  | 14.5
         10
         45
         45
         0

2.If the divisor is a decimal,

a. make the divisor a whole number by multiplying it by a power of 10 or by simply moving the decimal point to the right of the last figure.
b. move the decimal point  to the right as many places as you moved the decimal point in the divisor.

      ____                      _____
0.4 | 9.2   --------------4|  92

c.divide as in the division of whole numbers and place the decimal point in the quotient directly above the new place of the decimal point in the dividend.

        23_
  4  | 92
        8__
        12
        12
d. when the dividend contains fewer decimal places than required, annex as many zeros as are necessary to a decimal dividend.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES:

SEATWORK

a. Express the following decimals as fractions in simplest form.

1. 0.7
2. 0.05
3.9.18
4.0.8333....

b.Perform the following  operations.

1.0.56 + 6.449
2. 12 - 8.29
3. 19.2 x 23.06
4.8.75 ÷ 0.42

ASSESSMENT PLAN

After the discussion I will give activities  like seat works  to know if they understand    the topic  and if the result of the quizzes are low I will give more examples so that the students will fully understand the it.

TOOLS
In the presentation, describe how the tool was used in a particular lesson/time.

The lesson is appropriate for   2 hours   it will cope up the topic of decimal numbers it could not be done without  visual aid.The discussion will begin in discussing on how to add, subtract, multiply  and divide decimal numbers.

YOUR ANALYSIS

Which feature of the hand-out is not effective?

There are no feature of the handout that is not effective since  every content are pacific for the topic.

What measured by assessment plan?Is it process or product?

It measure the student understanding therefore  it is a product since I discuss the topic  to them, give material and specific example with the assessment.

YOUR REFLECTION

Recall any difficulties encountered in making hand-outs?How did you overcome them?
]
It is difficult to find a topic and summarize all the data and to find specific learning materials. It is also difficult to make learning  materials for the topic. It is also difficult to make learning materials if there is no learning resources.
I try to find a way to overcome that difficulties I plan the activities in an earlier time so that I can fixed  unexpected problems in my presentation.
